The date today is January 22’nd
2018. We are here at the Energy
Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The crowd is going crazy as we all sit here and wait for the BMX session
of the X-Games to start. Just as
everyone thought it was never going to start, all of the riders rode their
bikes out through the curtains and up on to the mega ramp! As they were all introducing themselves
over the microphone, one of the many rider’s names caught my attention. His name was Kyle Baldock, I looked up and
asked myself “could it be him?” It was
him! My long lost cousin I haven’t
talked to for a couple years, and I end up seeing him in the X-Games. Im not gonna lie, its been one of my dreams
since I was ten years old to ride my bike in front of a bunch of people for the
Dew Tour or the X-Games, so I was a
little bit jealous! But I was mostly
excited to see him, he is one of my hero’s, along with kid ink!!! Anyways I sat and waited for it to finally be
Kyle’s turn, it seemed like it was taking forever! His turn finally came after like 20 minutes
of waiting. I was so excited that I
could barely stay in my seat! As he
dropped into the first quarter pipe to start his run, I could see the fire
in his eyes. I knew that he was planning
something big, but what could it be, I wondered? I decided that I was thinking about it too
much, so I stopped. And then it
happened! He hit the box jump and pulled
a dipped three whip over it, aired out of the quarter pipe, and started riding
for the box jump again. I think he was
about to pull his finale, I could just see it in his eyes, and he was almost
out of time. As he went up the box jump,
everything seemed as if it was going in slow motion. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, he
attempted a double frontflip cliffhanger.
At that moment the whole arena went silent. Baldock was down on the ground, not
moving… I got up and ran down to where
he was laying, followed by the medical crew making me back off, they wouldn’t
let me see him. I was very worried as
the ambulance drove off. I looked over
and saw my cousins shoe laying over by the box jump, so I went over, grabbed
it, and set off for the hospital…
